Disney has revealed that it will debut its seventh international theme park and its first in the Middle East on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, in association with Miral, the local developer. The seaside resort will be billed as Disney's "most technologically advanced and interactive destination" as it marries classic Disney tales with modern Abu Dhabi culture and innovative design. Miral will finance, develop, and operate the park in its entirety, while Disney offers creative input and receives royalties. The resort will include themed attractions, hotels, restaurants, and retail, honoring Disney's heritage and the innovative nature of Abu Dhabi. No opening date has been established, but design work is currently underway, with construction anticipated to take several years. Disney CEO Bob Iger described the project as "exhilarating," pledging immersive experiences for a next generation of consumers.
