Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan has laid stress on the role of self-help groups for women in propelling the rural economy. The following are some major initiatives:
Namo Drone Didi Scheme: The scheme is designed to empower rural women by giving them agricultural drones. The scheme will provide 325 women self-help groups with drones, which will allow them to provide drone services for spraying fertilizers and pesticides. The participants can earn a maximum of ₹60,000 per month, encouraging financial independence and entrepreneurship.
Lakhpati Didi Scheme: The initiative targets to augment women's earning from their household at least to ₹1 lakh. To date, 17 lakh women have attained this. There is an ambition to support 26 lakh rural women with the same before 2024-25 ends.
Financial Support and Entrepreneurship: Women are turning into entrepreneurs as a result of self-help groups because of financial support initiatives by the Central and State governments. This is essential to reach the objective of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Anganwadi Recruitment: The state is hiring 18,000 Anganwadi workers in order to promote more employment opportunities for women, which further enables their economic involvement.
