Indore is taking bold steps to make it India's greenest city through the launch of the Green Spot Adopt Abhiyan. Initiated by the Indore Municipal Corporation, the movement invites citizens, institutions, and social organizations to adopt green spaces within the city, thereby endorsing Indore's commitment to sustainability.

Key developments surrounding the campaign are public involvement, urban planning initiatives, and long-term environmental impacts.

Community-Led Green Spaces

Residents can adopt road dividers, green belts, rotaries, and key intersections.

The adopters will be responsible for planting, maintaining, and watering their adopted spaces.

Prior early implementation will be given priority for adoption to expedite execution.

Strategic Urban Greening

A minimum of five gardens per colony has been catered to in the city master plan.

Each colony garden will be converted into an urban forest with high density.

Climate-specific plant species will be selected to ensure enhanced survival.

Sustainable Practices and Future Vision

51 lakh trees have already been planted by Indore, with 12.4 lakh saplings growing in the Reoti range.

Treated water from the Kabitkhedi Sewage Treatment Plant is also being utilized for irrigation.

Innovative suggestions have been made by citizens, such as an iconic garden inspired by New York's Central Park.

The project will make Indore a national model of urban greenery, setting an example for sustainable city planning.
