The International Energy Agency (IEA) has released a report projecting a significant increase in India's natural gas demand by 2030. According to the forecast, gas consumption is expected to rise by nearly 60%, reaching 103 billion cubic meters annually. This surge will necessitate a more than doubling of India's liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports to around 65 billion cubic meters per year. The growth is attributed to rapid infrastructure expansion, recovering domestic production, and anticipated easing of global gas market conditions. The city gas distribution sector is expected to lead consumption growth, supported by CNG infrastructure expansion and competitive pricing against liquid fuels.
