India has officially entered the race to host the 2027 World Test Championship Final, marking a potential shift in Test cricket’s global landscape. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has expressed its intent to bring the marquee event to home soil, with discussions held during the ICC Chief Executives Committee meeting in Zimbabwe last month.

While England has hosted all previous WTC finals, India’s bid is backed by its world-class stadiums, passionate fan base, and financial strength. If approved, the final could be staged at one of the country’s premier venues, with five stadiums emerging as top contenders:

- Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad – The world’s largest cricket stadium, boasting a seating capacity of 132,000, is a strong favorite for the final.
- Eden Gardens, Kolkata – A historic venue with a rich legacy, known for its electrifying atmosphere and iconic matches.
- Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai – A compact yet intense setting, offering a high-energy experience for players and spectators alike.
- M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru – A fan-favorite known for its lively crowd and excellent pitch conditions.
- MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai – A venue steeped in tradition, offering a balanced pitch for competitive Test cricket.

The bid comes with logistical challenges, particularly if Pakistan qualifies for the final, as bilateral relations between the two nations remain strained. The ICC will assess factors such as ticket sales, security, and scheduling before making a final decision.
