The government on Wednesday announced that it would be introducing a new web portal shortly to facilitate electronic filing of documents in trade remedy investigations. The project, being led by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) under the ministry of commerce, is aimed at increasing transparency, efficiency, and ease of access to all stakeholders into anti-dumping, anti-subsidy, and safeguard investigations.
As stated in the official release, the platform will be rolled out shortly and is anticipated to streamline the process for businesses and legal representatives involved in trade remedy cases. The initiative is one of the continued efforts towards safeguarding vulnerable domestic industries against dumped imports and subsidized products, providing timely and effective investigations.
Since its establishment in 2018, the DGTR has centralized several of the trade remedy activities and has played a pivotal role in the protection of Indian industry interests domestically and abroad. The new platform is viewed as a step towards the use of technology in the pursuit of these goals, making the interaction between stakeholders and the trade remedy system more streamlined.
