India is preparing to strengthen its defence capabilities by purchasing advanced drones, long-range missiles, and laser-based defence systems from Israel during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit. The move aims to build a multi-layered shield against future threats, enhancing India’s security infrastructure and strategic partnership with Israel.
India is set to deepen its defence cooperation with Israel as Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks on a two-day visit from February 25–26. According to reports, the two nations will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) covering advanced defence technologies, including drones, long-range stand-off missiles, and laser-based systems such as Israel’s Iron Beam.
This collaboration comes against the backdrop of last year’s Operation Sindoor, which highlighted the need for stronger air defence and counter-drone measures. By integrating Israeli systems, India aims to create an “impregnable” multi-layered shield capable of neutralizing threats from missiles, drones, and airstrikes, particularly from hostile neighbors.
The partnership also extends to exploring anti-ballistic missile defence and joint development projects, reflecting the growing strategic alignment between New Delhi and Tel Aviv. Analysts believe these acquisitions will not only modernize India’s defence arsenal but also reinforce its position in the global security landscape.
