Following a 20-day closure due to the Iran-Israel conflict, Iran has partially reopened its airspace, offering expanded travel options for Indian nationals. Key airports like Imam Khomeini and Mehrabad in Tehran are now operating limited international flights, including Flydubai services, though only during daylight hours (5:00 am–6:00 pm local time). Eastern Iran’s airspace is fully operational, while Isfahan and Tabriz airports remain shut pending repairs.

The Indian Embassy in Tehran has urged citizens to register their location and consider commercial flights, ferries, or land crossings via Armenia and Türkiye. Over 700 Indians have relocated to safer cities like Qom, and 110 students have crossed into Armenia. However, those eyeing Azerbaijan or Turkmenistan must seek prior approvals.

The embassy also advises carrying cash (USD) due to card failures, preparing for internet blackouts, and using ride-hailing apps like Snapp and Tap30 for local travel. Only aircraft flying above 25,000 feet are permitted in western airspace, limiting smaller planes.

Key Highlights:

  • Airports Open: Tehran (limited), Eastern Iran
  • Exit Options: Flights, ferries, Armenia/Türkiye land borders
  • Advisory: Register with embassy, avoid non-essential travel
  • Precautions: Carry cash, ID copies, monitor alerts
