In a tremendous display of unity, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has praised the Indian Armed Forces publicly in appreciation after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the country in his latest address to the nation on Operation Sindoor. The gesture came amid increased tension between India and Pakistan following the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack.

Key Highlights

Amitabh Bachchan ended his silence over the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor by putting up an emotional poetic tribute on his official X handle, conveying unshakeable support to the Indian Army. His tweet, posted late on May 12, consisted of a poem appealing to soldiers to stay strong, with the caption Jai Hind Jai Hind Ki Sena.

The timing of Bachchan’s message coincided with Prime Minister Modi’s first public statement since the launch of Operation Sindoor on May 7, India’s military response to the Pahalgam attack. Modi’s address came just two days after India and Pakistan agreed to a temporary ceasefire across all borders.

In his blog and posts, Bachchan narrated the chilling account of the Pahalgam attack, in which a harmless couple was brutally assaulted by terrorists. Quoting from his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan's poetry, he emphasized the cultural importance of sindoor (vermilion) as a symbol of sacrifice and strength, connecting it to the name and mission of the operation.

Bachchan's homage asked the military to stand strong, never waver, never back down, and never give up, reflecting the Agnipath spirit-a nod to his father's famous poem on bravery and determination.

The message was well-received by the actor, with other stars such as Kangana Ranaut also applauding the leadership and determination displayed by Prime Minister Modi during these trying times.

Professionally, Amitabh Bachchan's evergreen movies Sholay and Piku will be re-released in theatres, and he will again become the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 17 shortly.
