Reliance Jio has again marked its dominance over the Indian telecom industry, acquiring 2.17 million new mobile users in March 2025. This phenomenal development represents a staggering 74% of the industry's overall 2.93 million net additions for the month, and further accentuates Jio's dominance over competition.

Important points:

Jio's subscriber addition was almost twice that of Airtel, which gained 1.25 million subscribers, while Vodafone Idea lost more than 540,000 subscribers.

Jio currently has a 40.6% market share in the wireless space, with its subscriber base crossing 469.8 million.

The company led the rapidly growing 5G Fixed Wireless Access segment, with over 82% market share and 5.57 million subscribers.

Jio took over over 86% of Visitor Location Register (VLR) subscriber additions, a prime indicator of active users.

India's overall wireless subscriber count rose to 1.16 billion in March, rural areas leading the majority of the increase as urban subscriptions fell marginally.

Jio's aggressive growth and leadership in both legacy wireless and new-generation 5G services prove its market leadership status, paving the way for the future of the industry.
