Aamir Khan has been very frank about his "playful frustration" towards his son Junaid Khan's adamant refusal to enjoy a high-life, even after achieving success in Bollywood with a thriving career. Junaid, who has acted in Maharaj and Loveyapa, avoids the glamour of stardom and prefers public transport and ride-sharing apps over the luxury cars at his disposal.
Aamir spilled the beans in a recent interview that he's "tired of asking him to get a car," even gifting Junaid his own cars, but his son declines, saying, "No, dad, I don't need a car, I just book an OLA." The superstar shared an interesting anecdote: Junaid once took a night state transport bus from Kerala to Bengaluru for a friend's wedding, spurning the luxury of a flight. This earthy attitude has stunned many, considering the industry's image of excess.
Junaid justified his actions, stating, "Papa makes a big thing of small things. I just use the shortest path possible. I use the rickshaw a lot in Mumbai because it is easier to navigate and not worry about parking." His pragmatism carries over to everyday life—he's frequently seen in autorickshaws and even found himself in trouble for entering Yash Raj Studios because security did not think a star kid would show up in a rickshaw.
Aamir attributes Junaid's humility to his mothers, Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, who never raised them "materialistic." Junaid's humility was once again emphasized during the pandemic when he moved in to take care of his grandparents, showing his independence and sensitivity.
