Tesla fans in India finally have something to celebrate—Tesla is opening its first showroom in Mumbai this July. After years of rumors and delays, you’ll soon be able to see a Tesla up close, test drive it, and maybe even bring one home (if your wallet can handle it).

So, what’s the scoop?

Showroom Details: The Mumbai showroom is set to open mid-July, with another one in Delhi not far behind. These will be Tesla’s first official stores in India, letting you check out the cars and talk to Tesla staff directly.

Which Models? The first cars to hit Indian roads will be the Model Y, imported from Tesla’s Shanghai factory. The Model Y is a mid-size electric SUV and currently Tesla’s global bestseller.

How Much? Here’s the catch: thanks to India’s steep import duties (about 70% on fully built cars), the Model Y will start at over ₹47 lakh (roughly $56,000) before taxes and insurance. That’s a big jump from its US price of around $45,000. The more affordable Model 3 could land between ₹35–40 lakh, while the luxury Model S and Model X could go as high as ₹1.5–2 crore.

Who’s Buying? At these prices, Tesla is targeting the luxury market—think tech lovers and EV enthusiasts in Mumbai and Delhi who want to be first in line.

What Else? Tesla is also bringing in Superchargers and support services, so early buyers won’t be left stranded.

Bottom line: Tesla’s finally here, but for now, it’s a premium dream—unless you’re ready to pay for that electric badge.
