Indian airlines have cancelled and diverted several flights following the missile strikes by the armed forces at terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under "Operation Sindoor." The strikes on nine targets associated with major terror outfits resulted in airspace closure and the shutting down of several major airports, resulting in large-scale travelling disruptions.

Operation Sindoor and Strikes
  • Indian armed forces carried out pinpoint missile attacks on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including redoubts of Jaish-e-Mohammad (Bahawalpur) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (Muridke).
  • The attack was said to be concentrated and non-escalatory, with no Pakistani military bases hit.
Flight Cancellations and Airport Closures
  • Key carriers-Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa Air, and Air India Express-cancelled flights between and from northern cities like Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Amritsar, Dharamshala, Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Bhuj, Jamnagar, and Rajkot.
  • Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Amritsar, and other airports are closed until further notice, with departure, arrival, and connecting flights greatly affected.
  • A minimum of 160 IndiGo flights and 20 Delhi flights were cancelled; two international flights heading to Amritsar were diverted to Delhi.
Airline and Airport Advisories
  • Airlines requested that passengers check flight status prior to airport visit and plan travel accordingly.
  • Delhi Airport issued an advisory cautioning against disruptions owing to fluctuating airspace conditions and urged travelers to remain informed through official channels.
International Impact
Qatar Airways suspended flights to Pakistan temporarily as a result of Pakistani airspace being closed.

What Passengers Need to Do
  • Verify with your airline for updates prior to departing for the airport.
  • Follow official airline and airport social media feeds for real-time updates and notices.
