The Odisha government has announced a minor bureaucratic reshuffle, appointing Sanjay Kumar Singh as the new Principal Secretary to the Works Department. Singh, a 1997-batch IAS officer, replaces Vir Vikram Yadav, who has been relieved of his duties to take up a central assignment as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
Singh, who previously served as Principal Secretary to the Rural Development Department, will now also oversee the Information and Public Relations Department and the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department. His appointment is expected to bring administrative efficiency and continuity to key developmental initiatives.
Further strengthening the administrative structure, Yamini Sarangi, a 2008-batch IAS officer, has been named the new Principal Secretary to the Rural Development Department. She will continue to hold her existing responsibilities as Commissioner of Commercial Taxes and GST, in addition to her charge as Special Secretary to the Finance Department.
The reshuffle is part of the state government’s broader efforts to streamline governance and ensure effective implementation of policies across departments. Officials have emphasized that the changes will enhance coordination and accelerate developmental projects.
