In a major counter-terror raids, Jammu and Kashmir Police's State Investigation Agency (SIA) has busted a sleeper cell network of handlers receiving sensitive and strategic information regarding security forces from within the country. The raids have been conducted in the backdrop of increased anxiety regarding cross-border terrorism and national security threats.
Key Highlights:
Massive Raids: SIA carried out synchronized searches at 20 sites in all South Kashmir districts on May 11, 2025, aimed at suspected sleeper cell modules.
Direct Links with Pakistan: Technical intelligence indicated that these sleeper cells had direct connections with Pakistan-based handlers, making use of end-to-end encrypted messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal to share sensitive information regarding security forces and crucial installations.
Radical Propaganda: The group was also known to be actively involved in online radicalization and propaganda on behalf of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Muhammad commanders with the aim of promoting anti-India narratives and causing public disturbance.
Seizures and Arrests: Significant incriminating evidence was recovered during the raids, and a number of suspects have been arrested for further questioning.
National Security Threat: Initial investigations establish the group's role in a larger terrorist conspiracy to destabilize India's sovereignty, promote communal hatred, and cause public disorder.
Continued Vigilance: The authorities have reiterated their resolve to take strong action against all secessionist and terrorist activities, promising continued vigilance and additional operations as required.
This operation is a huge setback for terror groups aiming to destabilize the region, which reflects the proactive role of the SIA in securing the country.
