Delhi-Jaipur Expressway, one of India's most populated inter-city highways, is set to be heavily upgraded for increased safety and better ride. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will place up 10 km of the expressway in Delhi and 18 km in Gurgaon, fortifying layers of pavement especially near flyovers, service roads, and underpasses. Tougher impact-absorbing concrete crash barriers will replace metal beam crash barriers in an attempt to reduce fatalities in accidents. Safety improvements also entail rectifying accident-susceptible spots, enhancing signs and road markings, and enhancing light to a level of at least 40 lux. Service roads in flood plains like Narsinghpur shall be built by using ready-mix concrete in order to not require frequent maintenance.

This overhaul resolves the overcapacity of the expressway, with over 3 lakh vehicles per day, well above its design. The enhancements are expected to offer safer, smoother rides for millions of commuters with reduced traffic congestion on this critical corridor.
