Pawandeep Hits the Right Note—And the Jackpot—With Indian Idol 12 Win

Uttarakhand's Champawat district native Pawandeep Rajan was crowned Indian Idol 12 after a 12-hour long grueling grand finale. Pawandeep's powerful voice and versatility allowed him to surpass five solid finalists-Arunita Kanjilal, Mohd Danish, Sayli Kamble, Nihal Tauro, and Shanmukha Priya. The winner, Pawandeep, received the prized Indian Idol trophy, a Maruti Suzuki Swift car, and a ₹25-lakh cash prize.

 

His musical career began early enough since he hails from a family of renowned Kumaoni folk singers, and he previously won The Voice India in 2015. Winning Indian Idol further cemented his status as one of India's finest young talents.
