Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu, a landmark bridge over the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati, Assam. Built at a cost of ₹3,030 crore, the 1.24-km, six-lane extradosed PSC bridge is the first of its kind in Northeast India.
The bridge is expected to transform connectivity between Guwahati and North Guwahati, cutting travel time drastically from 45–60 minutes to just 7–10 minutes. Engineers have incorporated advanced technologies, including base isolation systems, high-performance stay cables, and a Bridge Health Monitoring System, ensuring seismic safety and long-term durability.
