Power Grid Corporation of India’s subsidiary, Powergrid Narela Transmission Ltd (PNTL), has successfully commissioned its interstate transmission system project. Built at a cost of ₹1,618 crore, the scheme strengthens India’s renewable energy infrastructure by enabling evacuation of 8.1 GW of solar power from Rajasthan, with 408 ckm of transmission lines and 4,500 MVA capacity.
In a significant boost to India’s renewable energy ambitions, Powergrid Narela Transmission Ltd (PNTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), has successfully commissioned its transmission project under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework.
The project is part of the Transmission System Strengthening Scheme for evacuation of 8.1 GW of solar energy from Rajasthan (Phase-II, Part G). With an estimated investment of ₹1,618 crore, the scheme includes 408 circuit kilometers (ckm) of 765 kV transmission lines and 4,500 MVA of transformation capacity.
This commissioning marks a critical milestone in India’s efforts to integrate renewable energy into the national grid, ensuring reliable power supply and supporting the country’s clean energy transition.
