In a major infrastructure push, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the extension of the Gujarat Metro Rail Project from GIFT City to Shahpur. The 3.33-km stretch will be developed by the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC), a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat.
The project, estimated at ₹1,067.35 crore, will include three elevated metro stations and is expected to be completed within four years. This extension is designed to strengthen connectivity between Ahmedabad and the GIFT region, benefiting multinational companies, educational institutions, and commercial centers along the route.
