Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh has announced a series of sweeping measures to revamp the healthcare system of the capital. The key initiatives include launching polyclinics that will offer primary and secondary daycare, bridging manpower shortages by recruiting doctors and paramedics, and giving quality medicines under Ayushman Bharat.
The BJP government also approved a ₹10 lakh health insurance to beneficiaries, which will be funded equally by the Centre and Delhi government. Singh placed heavy emphasis on gradual reforms, starting with structural improvement in large hospitals and enhanced facilities for doctors.
The report of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) showed serious shortcomings such as a lack of staff, underused operation theatres, and delayed operations. Singh guaranteed that the shortages would be met to improve healthcare to become more efficient, transparent, and accessible.
