Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced plans to build a world-class film city in Mysuru on 150 acres of land. This giant plan aims at boosting the Karnataka film industry with state-of-the-art movie-making facilities, theatres, and additional amenities. The city falls under a scheme of more organized tourism development accompanied by economic surge.
The project will be developed under a public-private partnership program, with a view to attracting domestic and overseas filmmakers. The project follows after the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) set aside 110 acres of land for the project, with an additional 50 acres reserved for expansion.
Building work is set to start shortly, representing a major landmark in the push by Karnataka to become a leading center for film production.
