In a major boost for digital payments, users can now link their RuPay credit and debit cards with UPI apps like PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, and BHIM. This integration allows cardholders to make seamless QR code-based payments without swiping their card or entering card details manually.
What You Need Before You Begin
* A RuPay credit or debit card issued by your bank
* A smartphone with an active UPI app installed (PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, BHIM, etc.)
* Mobile number linked with both the RuPay card and your bank account
* A stable internet connection for initial setup and authentication
Step-By-Step Process To Link RuPay Card With UPI
* Open your preferred UPI-enabled app on your smartphone
* Navigate to the ‘Link Credit/Debit Card’ or ‘Add RuPay Card’ option in the payment settings or profile section
* Select ‘RuPay’ as the card type and choose your issuing bank from the list
* Enter the last 6 digits and expiry date of your RuPay card
* Authenticate using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number
* Set a secure UPI PIN for card-based transactions if prompted
* Once linked successfully, your RuPay card will appear under ‘Payment Methods’ or ‘Linked Accounts’ in the app
Where You Can Use It
* Pay at merchant outlets using UPI QR codes with your RuPay card instead of your bank account
* Ideal for small shops, grocery stores, petrol pumps, restaurants, and any place with UPI QR-based payments
* Works nationwide at any UPI-accepting merchant without card swiping or POS terminals
Security And Limits
* Transactions are protected with UPI PIN and bank-grade encryption
* Limits for UPI-linked RuPay cards may vary by bank and are usually in line with UPI or card-specific caps
