Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (G E Shipping), a leading player in the Indian maritime sector, has announced the delivery of a Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier named Jag Amol. Built in 2015, the vessel has a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of approximately 81,843 and is the latest addition to the company's fleet as part of its ongoing expansion strategy.
The delivery of this dry bulk carrier was fully financed through internal accruals, showcasing Great Eastern Shipping's robust financial health and commitment to fleet modernization without incurring additional debt. Jag Amol is expected to be operational by Q3 of fiscal year 2026, enhancing the company’s capabilities in the dry bulk segment.
With this acquisition, G E Shipping's owned fleet now consists of 39 vessels, including 26 tankers (split between crude carriers, product tankers, and LPG carriers) and 13 dry bulk carriers. The total fleet capacity currently stands at approximately 3.13 million deadweight tons.
In addition to Jag Amol, the company has contracted to purchase one secondhand Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier and one secondhand Suezmax crude tanker in Q2 FY26. Concurrently, it plans to sell a secondhand Suezmax crude tanker in the same period, with all these transactions expected to be completed by Q3 FY26. These moves underline Great Eastern Shipping’s proactive fleet management to optimize capacity and operational efficiency.
