Solapur is set to become Maharashtra’s next tech hub with a ₹50-crore IT park planned on Hotgi Road. Spearheaded by the district administration under CM Devendra Fadnavis’s directive, the project aims to generate local employment, attract tech firms, and position Solapur as a key player in India’s digital economy.
In a strategic move to accelerate Solapur’s digital transformation, the Maharashtra government has greenlit a ₹50-crore Information Technology (IT) Park along Hotgi Road. The initiative, led by District Collector Kumar Ashirwad and backed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is poised to reshape the region’s economic landscape by attracting tech investments and creating employment opportunities for local youth.
The proposed IT park will span 50 acres of land owned by the Water Resources Department, chosen for its cost-efficiency and development readiness. This location was selected after evaluating multiple sites across Solapur, including the old mill area and land near Hiraj village—both ruled out due to infrastructure limitations and feasibility concerns.
The project aligns with CM Fadnavis’s broader vision to decentralize Maharashtra’s tech growth beyond Pune and Mumbai. During a recent public address, he emphasized that a significant portion of IT professionals in Pune hail from Solapur, underscoring the city’s untapped potential. The new park will be developed through the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), with plans to attract startups, software firms, and IT-enabled service providers.
Land surveys have already been completed, and administrative groundwork is underway to fast-track execution. The IT park is expected to not only boost Solapur’s digital footprint but also catalyze infrastructure upgrades, skill development programs, and ancillary business growth in the region.
