Delhivery Ltd (NSE: DELH.NS) strengthened its logistics network with the opening of a mega-gateway facility at Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, which significantly enhances its storage and freight handling capacity. The expansion is part of the company's long-term goal of establishing a pan-India network of high-capacity technology-enabled logistics hubs.
1. Facility Highlights
-
The Bhiwandi hub covers 1.2 million sq. ft. and is one of the biggest logistics terminals in India.
-
It accommodates 196 docking bays and can process over 8,000 tonnes of freight daily, with a vehicle passing every 54 seconds.
-
The facility integrates automated sortation solutions, returns processing, and freight handling, powered by Falcon Autotech's double-deck cross-belt sorters and over 5 km of conveyance systems.
2. Strategic Impact
-
The growth will improve service levels for both large businesses and SMEs in the West Zone, including Mumbai.
-
It enables parcel and part-truckload freight to complete Delhivery's vision of offering end-to-end logistics solutions.
-
The hub also supports Delhivery's vision for sustainability, with further deployment of LNG-powered trucks and road trains to assist in emissions minimization and improve cost savings.
3. Broader Network Vision
-
This is Delhivery's second mega-gateway, following the first in Tauru, Haryana. A third will go live in Bangalore by later this year.
-
These hubs are the basis of Delhivery's vision for redefining logistics efficiency and supporting India's growing e-commerce and FMCG industries.
