India will soon have its first national cow culture museum in Mathura, announced by the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad. The museum will highlight the religious, cultural, spiritual, and scientific significance of cows, blending tradition with modern science. It will be set up at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Veterinary Science University.
The government has unveiled plans to establish India’s first cow culture museum in Mathura, a city deeply associated with Lord Krishna and cow reverence. The initiative, led by the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad, aims to create a unique institution that integrates faith, heritage, and scientific knowledge.
The museum will showcase digital and symbolic models of native cattle breeds, including endangered varieties, to preserve and promote India’s bovine diversity. Exhibits will also highlight the nutritional and health benefits of cow-based products such as milk, curd, ghee, and cheese, supported by modern scientific research.
Officials emphasized that the museum will serve as a confluence of tradition and science, educating visitors about the cultural and spiritual importance of cows while also presenting their economic and ecological utility. The project is expected to boost tourism in Mathura and strengthen awareness around cow conservation.
