Indian Defence Forces have started 2025 recruitment for the Agnipath Scheme—a four-year-term government scheme for young patriots as "Agniveers" in the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The recruitment this year is aiming to induct around 46,000 new entrants, offering a chance for 10th and 12th pass-outs and also women to enter the forces and be given top-grade training.

The program's selling point lies in its twin pledge: defending the country while accelerating the employability of its youth. Agniveers not only learn tough military operation and discipline during their four-year stint, but also gain formal skill certification recognized by the industry—thanks to direct intervention by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Ex-Agniveers will be given a tax-exempt 'Seva Nidhi' cash amount of ₹11.7 lakh at retirement, in addition to Skill India certification, making them highly sought after in the civilian employment space.

In addition to this, 25% of every batch—subject to merit and organizational necessity—can also be awarded a permanent, full-time role in the forces. The scheme's impact is further enhanced by its encouragement of entrepreneurship and further training, so that the Agniveers can take on various professions on the expiration of their term in the armed forces.

The window for applying for 2025 is open on all recruitment portals of all services, with tests and physical tests to be attempted between June to August. Agnipath is seen by officials as the "launchpad to a tech-savvy, disciplined, and future-ready India.".
