In a gripping T20 encounter, Delhi Capitals managed to post a modest total of 133/7 in their 20 overs despite a top-order collapse, thanks to crucial knocks from Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma. Sent in to bat first, Delhi lost early wickets, with Karun Nair, Faf du Plessis and Abhishek Porel falling cheaply to Pat Cummins, who struck twice early and finished with impressive figures of 3/19.
KL Rahul (10) and skipper Axar Patel (6) couldn’t provide stability as Jaydev Unadkat and Harshal Patel kept the pressure on. At 5 wickets down with just 40-odd runs on the board, Delhi were in dire straits.
However, a fighting partnership between Tristan Stubbs (41 off 36) and Ashutosh Sharma (41 off 26) brought the innings back on track. Their calculated aggression ensured Delhi had something to defend, adding a vital 60+ run stand. Vipraj Nigam chipped in with a handy 18 before a mix-up led to his run out.
For the bowling side, Unadkat stood out with 1/13 in his four overs, while Malinga and Harshal Patel chipped in with key wickets despite being slightly expensive. The chase promises to be thrilling with a modest target and a balanced bowling attack from Delhi.
