Former U.S. President Donald Trump has reiterated his claim that his administration played a key role in brokering peace between India and Pakistan, stating that he encouraged both nations to prioritize trade over conflict. Speaking at an investment forum in Qatar, Trump asserted that his intervention led to a resolution of tensions, a statement that Indian officials have firmly denied.

Trump’s Perspective on the Dispute
- Trump stated that he advised India and Pakistan to focus on trade rather than military escalation, claiming both nations welcomed the suggestion
- He suggested that his diplomatic approach prevented a potential nuclear conflict, emphasizing the role of economic incentives in de-escalation
- The former president declared that the India-Pakistan dispute was now settled, attributing the outcome to his administration’s efforts

India’s Response and Official Position
- Indian officials have categorically rejected Trump’s claims, asserting that no third-party mediation was involved in discussions with Pakistan
- The Ministry of External Affairs clarified that the ceasefire agreement was reached directly between the two countries’ military leadership, without external influence
- India has maintained its long-standing policy that all issues with Pakistan must be resolved bilaterally, dismissing any suggestion of U.S. intervention

Despite Trump’s assertions, India continues to emphasize its independent diplomatic stance, reinforcing that its engagement with Pakistan remains a direct and sovereign matter.
