The state government of Uttar Pradesh has approved Rs 200 crore for flood protection schemes in vulnerable districts prior to the coming monsoon. The funds will be utilized in the strengthening of embankments on major rivers like the Saryu, Ganga, Rapti, and Rohin. All these schemes like RCC pillar erection, embankment repair, anti-erosion works, and installation of new pumping stations have been tasked with the irrigation department to undertake on an emergency basis. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasized timely completion of works within target dates and no leniency for sloppiness in the execution of projects. Key projects are planned to be undertaken in districts such as Gorakhpur, Amethi, Shravasti, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, Bulandshahr, and Sitapur to avert flood danger and safeguard rural infrastructure. This is one of the state's all-round flood control programs to check monsoon losses and safeguard lives and properties. Source: Business Standard, UNI India, Aaj Tak
