Wings Clipped: Amritsar Airport Grounded Indefinitely After Operation Sindoor

Amritsar's Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport has been closed completely for all civilian flight operations until further notice, following India's military strikes under Operation Sindoor. The shut-down, as part of extensive security measures across northern India, is in response to increased tensions following precision strikes against terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. All local and overseas flights to and from Amritsar have been grounded by the authorities, with airlines such as Air India and IndiGo canceling or routing hundreds of flights. The shutdown, which initially was until 5:30 AM on May 10, can be prolonged as the developments keep unfolding, grounding thousands of passengers or searching for alternative routes. The authorities urge the public to remain calm, assuring that the closure is precautionary for public safety in the face of ongoing military operations and heightened security alerts.
