The Government of India has unveiled a comprehensive strategy to channel the energy and talent of the nation’s youth towards societal advancement and nation-building. This multi-pronged approach is designed to empower young people, foster leadership, and ensure their active participation in India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation.

Key Highlights:
  • Vision Viksit Bharat@2047: The government’s long-term vision positions youth as pivotal drivers of India’s transformation into a global superpower. Initiatives focus on education, skill development, and leadership to unlock their potential.
  • Skill Development and Employment: Major investments have been made in skilling and reskilling programmes, including the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), and new global skilling centres. These aim to align youth skills with emerging job market demands and global competitiveness.
  • Education Reforms: The 2025 Budget introduced broadband connectivity in all government secondary schools, expansion of medical and IIT seats, and the establishment of Atal Tinkering Labs to promote innovation and digital learning.
  • Leadership and Civic Engagement: The National Youth Festival, now reimagined as the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue, provides a platform for youth to present ideas directly to national leaders. Initiatives like the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) nurture civic responsibility and leadership, especially in rural areas.
  • Technology-Driven Platforms: The Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) initiative offers a digital ecosystem for youth volunteering and engagement, with over 1.65 crore young people already registered.
  • Inclusive Support: Schemes like the Model Skill Loan Scheme ensure financial access to advanced skilling courses, while targeted efforts address rural and semi-urban youth, bridging gaps in opportunity and employability.
These initiatives collectively aim to harness the creativity, energy, and aspirations of India’s youth, making them key stakeholders in the nation’s progress.
