Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized her commitment to taxpayers in her first interview post-Budget 2025, stating she aimed to "honour the taxpayer." The budget, described as "by the people, for the people," includes a significant tax relief measure, raising the income tax exemption threshold from ₹7 lakh to ₹12 lakh. This change is expected to benefit over one crore taxpayers, enhancing disposable income and stimulating economic growth. Sitharaman defended the budget against accusations of electoral bias, asserting it was crafted in response to the public's voice.
