Key Highlights of NGEL’s Green Hydrogen Push

 

NGEL is developing India’s largest integrated green hydrogen hub in Pudimadaka near Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

 

The hub will produce 1,500 tons per day of green hydrogen and 7,500 tons per day of derivatives including green methanol, green urea, and sustainable aviation fuel.

 

NGEL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with VOC Port Authority to set up a green hydrogen station and promote green energy technologies.

Visakhapatnam: India’s First Green Hydrogen Hub

 

Scale and Scope The Pudimadaka Green Hydrogen Hub is being developed on 1,200 acres of land in partnership with the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh. It will include a manufacturing facility, green chemical zone, desalination plant, effluent treatment plant, port infrastructure, and a 7 GW substation2.

 

Strategic Importance This hub is the first of its kind under the National Green Hydrogen Mission and is designed to serve both domestic and export markets. It will support decarbonization in sectors such as steel, fertilizers, and aviation, while showcasing Andhra Pradesh’s role in global green energy leadership.

 

Economic Impact The project is expected to bring Rs 1.85 trillion in investment to the state and create thousands of jobs. It will also contribute to India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030.

 

VOC Port: Gateway to Green Maritime Infrastructure

 

MoU with VOC Port Authority NGEL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with VOC Port Authority to establish a green hydrogen station and promote renewable energy technologies. The collaboration aims to decarbonize port operations and support the maritime sector’s transition to cleaner fuels.

 

Infrastructure Development The green hydrogen station will cater to port logistics, fueling vessels and equipment with zero-emission energy. It will also serve as a pilot for replicable models across other Indian ports.
