Old Papers or a Goldmine? Chandigarh Man’s Incredible Reliance Share Discovery!

A resident of Chandigarh, Rattan Dhillon, recently found physical share certificates of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) from 37 years ago worth about ₹12 lakh. Dhillon initially felt annoyed by the bureaucratic exercise needed to make these shares digital, saying the legal heir certificate would take 6-8 months and that the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) process could last for 2-3 years. Thus, he decided not to go ahead, regretting that "Dhirubhai Ambani's signatures will go to waste." But, getting encouragement and guidance from social media users and organizations such as IEPFA and KFin Technologies, Dhillon changed his mind. Now, he intends to retrieve the shares and has committed to donate 50% of the retrieved amount to 

charities helping those in need, especially people undergoing medical issues.
