Pen Mightier Than Prejudice: Shekhawat Lauds Literature at Sahityotsav

The importance of literature as a unifying factor, woven through the diversities of Indian culture, was emphasized by Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, while inaugurating the 41st Sahitya Akademi's "Sahityotsav: Festival of Letters." Literature, said Shekhawat, serves as a valuable fiber in intertwining threads that make up the cultural tapestry of India. He elaborated that the literature of India in all ages, most from ancient times to contemporary, has acted as a bridge between different cultures. The six-day festival will feature rich literary programming including lectures, discussions, and sessions by distinguished writers and poets. It will also confer awards upon 23 Sahitya Akademi Prize winners in recognition of excellence in Indian literary tradition in a variety of languages.
