Pfizer Ltd. Retains Key Brands Amid Upjohn-Mylan Merger

Contrary to speculation, Pfizer Ltd. has not announced any agreement with Mylan regarding the transfer of Ativan and Pacitane. These brands remain part of Pfizer's portfolio in India. The confusion may stem from the global merger of Pfizer's Upjohn business with Mylan, forming Viatris Inc. in 2020. While this deal included the transfer of some brands (Lyrica, Viagra, Celebrex, Amlogard, Daxid, and Dilantin) to Mylan in India, Ativan and Pacitane were not part of this transaction. Ativan continues to be a significant anxiolytic brand, while Pacitane maintains a 70% market share in its therapeutic category. Pfizer Ltd. appears to be retaining these successful products in its Indian operations.
