Pillars of Progress: India’s Pharma Leadership Fuels Global Innovation in 2025

India's pharmaceutical sector is undergoing a leadership shift, becoming a global leader. With the industry set to grow from $58 billion to $120-$130 billion by 2030, innovation, R&D, and global partnerships are the areas of focus for leaders. Strategic partnerships between Indian and international firms are driving innovation in oncology, biosimilars, and specialty generics, while initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme are building self-reliance in Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).

Indian firms now possess 752 FDA-approved units, surpassing the U.S., to ensure global expansion. Pioneers like Sun Pharma and Cipla are spearheading CAR-T cell therapy and mRNA vaccines and show a shift toward high-end products.
