Punjab Mandates Dog Breeders and Pet Shops Registration: An Initiative towards Animal Welfare

To promote animal welfare, the Punjab government has made a crucial step in making mandatory registration for dog breeders and pet shops under the Pashu Bhalai Board Punjab. Animal Husbandry Minister S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian said the registration will be carried out under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Dog Breeding and Marketing) Rules, 2017. The move is designed to check cruelty to animals and ensure humane treatment within the pet sector. The move evidences Punjab's seriousness on responsible pet keeping as well as ethical dog breeding and sets an example for other states to emulate.
