Rain or Shine: Cities Face Climate Shifts

Cities all over the world are witnessing drastic changes in their weather patterns, with some getting wetter and others drier as a result of climate change. In a recent research, it was discovered that 52% of the world's most populous cities are becoming wetter, and 44% are becoming drier. Cities such as Mumbai and Kuala Lumpur are witnessing greater wetness, while Hong Kong and Madrid are witnessing more dryness. This is due to rising contrasts between dry and wet seasons, with dry seasons becoming even drier and wet seasons getting wetter. These changes become challenging for urban planning and infrastructure since cities will have to respond to more extreme weather conditions.
