Accelerated microbial activity worsens pollution loads, threatening fish and biodiversity.

Devotees argue that such offerings purify rivers and symbolize gratitude. Organisers of the Narmada ritual described it as a sacred act to bless pilgrims. Yet environmentalists counter that these practices deprive communities of resources - in this case, milk worth nearly Rs 8 lakh - while simultaneously damaging ecosystems. The clash reflects a broader challenge: how to respect faith while safeguarding natural resources.
