SEBI Tightens Financial Disclosure Rules for REITs and InvITs

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has proposed stricter financial disclosure requirements for Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs). The new rules aim to enhance transparency and investor protection by aligning disclosure norms with public issue and listing regulations. Key changes include mandating detailed financial statements in offer documents, removing the option for condensed financial statements, and requiring quarterly submission of statements on the use of debt proceeds. SEBI has invited public comments on these proposals until March 7, 2025, as it seeks to strengthen the regulatory framework for these investment vehicles.
