Sikkim's Green Fee: Rs 50 for a Greener Tomorrow

The government of Sikkim has launched a Rs 50 entry fee for tourists from March 2025 as per the Sikkim Registration of Tourist Trade Rules 2025. The fee is charged at hotel check-ins, and it covers all tourists apart from children under the age of five and those employed on government work. It provides coverage of up to 30 days' stay, and re-entry costs an additional fee. The income will improve tourism infrastructure, road connectivity, and sanitation. The scheme will foster sustainable tourism while enhancing the experience of tourists. The money will be credited to the Tourism Sustainability Development Fund.
