SJS Enterprises Faces Mixed Ruling in Labor Dispute

The High Court has issued a complex ruling in a labor dispute involving SJS Enterprises Ltd. The court has directed the reinstatement of 164 workmen, signaling a partial victory for the employees. However, the ruling also upheld the management's authority to address indiscipline, maintaining a balance between worker rights and company governance. This decision comes at a crucial time for SJS Enterprises, which has been expanding its presence in the automotive and consumer appliance industries. The company, known for its decorative aesthetics products, reported a 7% year-on-year increase in profit to ₹16 crore in Q1 FY24, with revenue climbing 12% to ₹83 crore.
