Star Cement Boosts Green Energy Capacity with New WHRS Installation

Star Cement Ltd has significantly expanded its waste heat recovery system (WHRS) capacity, now operating 19 MW of WHRS. The company recently commissioned a 7 MW air-operated cyclone (AOC) boiler, enhancing its WHRS infrastructure. This addition complements the existing 12.3 MW WHRS at the Lumshnong, Meghalaya plant. The expansion aligns with Star Cement's commitment to increasing green energy usage, targeting a 55% share by FY26. This development is part of the company's broader strategy to optimize power costs and reduce its carbon footprint. The new WHRS capacity is expected to contribute to Star Cement's goal of achieving a 15% thermal substitution rate by FY25.
