Strike Cancelled: Banking Unions Choose Dialogue Over Disruption

In a major turn of events, the bank unions have called off their two-day nationwide strike scheduled on March 24-25, 2025. This comes after receiving encouraging assurances from the Finance Ministry as well as the Indian Banks' Association (IBA) on major demands such as implementing the five-day week and proper recruitment at all levels. The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) came to this decision in a conciliation meeting with the Chief Labour Commissioner, who will facilitate further discussions on outstanding issues. The next meeting is scheduled for April 22, 2025.
