Sustainable Spotlight: IIT Delhi Tops India as QS Ranks 100+ Universities

India’s performance in QS Sustainability Rankings 2026  
India’s presence in the QS Sustainability Rankings has expanded significantly, with 103 institutions listed this year, including 26 new entrants. IIT Delhi emerged as the highest-ranked Indian university at 205, reaffirming its leadership in sustainability-linked education and research. IIT Bombay and IIT Kharagpur followed closely, securing ranks 235 and 236.  

Globally, Lund University in Sweden claimed the top spot, while institutions from the U.K., Canada, Australia, and the U.S. dominated the top 15. QS noted that Indian universities performed strongly in environmental education and employability indicators but lagged in equality and education impact metrics.
