Tanzania Targets $15 Billion FDI from India by 2025, President Samia's Initiative Welcomed

The government of Tanzania is targeting to raise $15 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from India by 2025, announced President Samia Suluhu Hassan during her recent India trip. The nation has optimized the rules and launched incentive packages for encouraging investments from India. Tanzania and India inked six MoUs across different sectors, such as communications and maritime security. India is now the fifth-largest investor in Tanzania with investments of around $3.7 billion. The two nations' bilateral trade stood at $6.4 billion in 2022-23. Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized potential cooperation in areas such as education, skill development, and technology. This strategic alliance is working to enhance economic relations and generate prospects for both countries.
