Major Indigenous Boost: The order is part of a larger ₹15,000 crore (₹150 billion) contract, with TCS leading a consortium including Tejas Networks and C-DOT. This move aligns with the government’s policy to prioritize Indian vendors for state-run telecom projects, aiming to reduce reliance on foreign technology and bolster domestic manufacturing.

Nationwide 4G Rollout: TCS will deploy 4G equipment at 100,000 sites across India, focusing initially on high-revenue circles such as Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Punjab. Over 65,000 sites are already live, with full deployment expected by June 2025.

Data Centre Expansion: As part of the deal, TCS will establish large-scale data centers in four regions, with primary and disaster recovery servers, and additional centers in each telecom circle. This will enhance BSNL’s network resilience and capacity.

Consortium Collaboration: Tejas Networks will provide Radio Access Network (RAN) products, while C-DOT supplies the network core. TCS acts as system integrator, ensuring seamless end-to-end deployment and optimization.

Future-Ready for 5G: The infrastructure is designed for upgradability to 5G, with TCS ready to support BSNL’s 5G ambitions once spectrum and site plans are finalized.

Economic Impact: The deal is a significant revenue boost for TCS, supporting its growth amid global market slowdowns and reinforcing its leadership in India’s digital transformation.
